"Tone It Up" Nutrition Plan {I'm In!} + Under Armour Challenge Update

Wow it's been way too long since my last blog and I'm very sorry about that. The last few weeks have been a bit crazy. Lots of good changes at work and I've really been focusing on getting myself in a good workout routine. Last week I logged 15 miles pounding pavement. Yay!

Under Armour Challenge Update

I'm still having a blast doing the Under Armour What's Beautiful Challenge, but I have a ways to go and only 6 days left! AHHHHHH! I'm definitely freaking out a little bit, but I just keep reminding myself that I did this competition for FUN and to get my butt in gear. And remember, working out is supposed to be FUN! Also, my beautiful and wonderful sister, Katie joined me in the competition so it's been fun seeing her posts and brainstorming together.

As a reminder, my goal is to break the 5-mile run barrier, since that's the farthest I've run previously. Well Sunday, I ran 4.55 miles! WOOO-Freaking-HOO! I went out for shorter run initially, but I just got into the groove and kept going. I needed the mental reassurance, so I'm really glad that I pulled through a did a long run! I'm feeling better in my form, which is huge for me. Every day that I go out I feel like I'm becoming more and more comfortable. This is huge progress folks!

I'm headed out of town for a few days, so it will definitely be more challenging to keep my training going, but I'm determined. I'm shooting for 6 miles this Sunday! Oh the anxiety is already building, but in a good way. I'm confident in myself... I can do this! I'm excited to push myself and break my mileage PR. Stay tuned for updates. :)

Tone It Up Nutrition Plan

I've always needed a little help with my diet and I decided it was time to get some help. I struggle with staying on track with my diet because one day I'll get bored and so begins the snow ball effect. Well I went out on a limb and drank the Tone It Up Kool-Aid, which I might say, tastes pretty dang good so far! I'm really lovin' what these girls are cookin' up. They are upbeat and super in shape, not to mention they believe in eating like an ATHLETE! What a novel idea people! They have a vegan, veggie, regular, gluten free and gluten free veggie and pescatarian too! I purchased the regular version, as I don't have any restrictions in my diet. Plus, the regular plan includes recipes from the veggie and vegan plans too!

I've tried a few of the recipes and I'm loving how good I feel after eating them. I just feel light and satisfied, not heavy and bloated. I'll keep you posted on how this change effects my training and my body.

Stuffed Portobello Mushroom with Quinoa and Red Peppers
I'll leave you with a quick body-weight Cross-Fit workout that you can do anywhere. Me, I prefer my drive-way. :) I did this workout Monday after just over a mile of intervals. It was a good way to finish off a short run and feel very accomplished. Truthfully, I felt smoked afterward.

5 (or 10) rounds for time:

10 Jumping lunges
10 Pushups

10 Burpees
10 Squats

It took me 14:34 seconds to finish 5 rounds, and I'm working my way up to 10 rounds. My arms, legs, abs and butt were all tired after this. Good luck!
